You may not think it watching A New Hope, but Beru has a long history of being a badass. Most of it was told through the books Queen’s Shadow and Queen’s Hope where we learned that Beru was part of a group called the Whitesuns. She may have been the founding member, given her name. But the Whitesuns fought against the slave trade on Tatooine. It was Beru that found Shmi Skywalker and devised a way to free her from Watto. And then Shmi and Beru worked together to free more slaves and create a device that would find and remove the lethal chips placed inside all slaves on the planet.
