Why Cassian Andor's Blaster is Iconic - Star Wars Explained #Shorts | Star Wars Explained

Report from the Holocron of Xela. Description: Andor’s blaster pistol is awesome. If you think it looks familiar, you would be right! It’s not confirmed yet, but it looks like its design was at least inspired by the K-16 bryar pistol, a weapon that’s been part of Star Wars since the 1995 video game Dark Forces. In that story it is wielded by Kyle Katarn, a mercenary who stole part of the plans for the Death Star. Cassian shares several qualities with Katarn, so the use of his weapon, or at least a similar one is very fitting. The design isn’t exactly right. It doesn’t match the blaster’s appearance in Star Wars Battlefront or some of the comics, for example. But the bryar pistol has undergone several redesigns even within the Dark Forces franchise.
