Report from the Holocron of Xela. Description: Why didn’t Maul use the darksaber during the Siege of Mandalore or in Solo: A Star Wars Story? Why did he seemingly stop wielding it altogether? We don’t have a definite answer, but my headcanon is that he knew keeping the darksaber was important to his control over Death Watch, which was already tenuous. After losing his duel against Darth Sidious, he probably wanted to keep it hidden away where no rival could take it from him. He basically kept it hostage so he could continue commanding Mandalorian forces, and so he took up a double bladed red lightsaber in its place.
