Quotes from the second and third issues of Lucasfilm’s official newsletter in 1978 both reference twelve stories Lucas wrote for the Adventures of Luke Starkiller. Obviously that number was cut down, but the original idea was to continue building off of Star Wars’ inspirations as an adventure serial like Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, the Fighting Devil Dogs, and The Phantom Empire.
