Near the end of the Clone Wars, the Jedi Council decides to send Quinlan Vos to assassinate Count Dooku, a decision they all know is morally dicey, but feel is necessary. They tell Vos to team up with Dooku’s old apprentice, Asajj Ventress. After a tense meeting, they begin working and training together. They develop trust and romantic feelings for one another. Ventress trains the Jedi in the dark side, and he goes along with it for the purpose of his goal. Their assassination attempt fails, and Quinlan is captured. Dooku tortures him to the dark side, and accepts him as his new apprentice. Vos plays along, intending to eventually kill Dooku *and* his master. Asajj tries and fails to rescue him twice. During her second attempt, she saves him from Dooku’s Force lightning. Her sacrifice brings Quinlan back to the light side, and Dooku escapes. Quinlan lays her body to rest on Dathomir. That’s a *very* basic summary of the book, which looks like it will be relevant in season three of The Bad Batch, since the trailer already showed Ventress is back, alive and well.
