World Devastators Star Wars Legends Ship Lore in Under a Minute | Star Wars Explained
Report from the Holocron of Xela. Description: Do you know of the legendary World Devastators of Star Wars? They first appeared in the Star Wars Legends Dark Empire comics as superweapons of the resurrected Emperor. Outfitted with powerful tractor beams, they could land on a planet, rip the crust open, and harvest its resources to power the weapon itself as well as the weapons factories contained inside, which could produce starfighters, cruisers, droids, and more. In theory, they could even create *more* World Devastators. They could handily defeat ships as large as star destroyers. But the World Devastator fleet was eventually beaten by a virus developed by R2-D2 using information stolen by Luke Skywalker. Artoo turned the ships on one another, and they destroyed themselves. World Devastators haven’t been seen in canon, but Star Wars Rebels featured an ore crawler on the planet Lothal, which was based on the design for the World Devastators. The ore crawler was basically like a scaled down, less terrifying version of the superweapons. #starwars
