What Are the B'ommar Monks in Return of the Jedi? | Star Wars Explained
Report from the Holocron of Xela. Description: What are the spider-like droids seen wandering around Jabba’s palace? They are known as B’ommar monks. They were organic beings who believed they needed to remove all physical sensations to achieve enlightenment. So they took their brains out of their bodies and placed them in jars, which were then attached to those spider droid things. Jabba’s palace was originally a monastery for the B’ommar order. But since they were just walking brains in jars, the building was taken over by a bandit named Alkhara, who was eventually driven out by Jabba. After his death it passed to Bib Fortuna, and then Boba Fett. All of the monastery’s owners felt no need to force the B’ommar monks out, and they were allowed to stay. #starwars
